How to Build your Jeep Wrangler Part 3

In this third part of our series on building up a Jeep, we’ll be upgrading the suspension from the True Dual Rate™ suspension to the full Game Changer™.

Previously, we added larger tires and installed a 2.5" True Dual Rate lift kit, featuring the Duratrac track bar, DuraFlex control arms, RockSport shocks, and True Dual Rate coils.

Remember, that even though we built this on a Wrangler 4xe, the upgrades are applicable to any Wrangler.

Why Upgrade?

While these upgrades made the Jeep quite capable, to truly maximize performance and durability, the Dual Rate to Game Changer upgrade kit is the perfect addition. This upgrade is just a few clicks away and will significantly enhance your off-roading experience.

Components of the Upgrade Kit

The Dual Rate to Game Changer upgrade kit includes:

  • Upper and lower adjustable DuraFlex control arms that replace the factory control arms.
  • A variety of shock options including RockSport long travel shocks, 2.5" bodied RockSport black remote reservoir shocks, or the six pack long travel shocks.
  • For our demonstration, we’ll use the RockSport Red Shox to showcase their capabilities.
  • Upgrading our True Dual Rate coils from 2.5" height to 3.5" for added flexibility and clearance.
  • An option for the front drive shaft if it hasn’t been upgraded yet.

Heavy Duty Steering System

While in the shop, we also added the MetalCloak Heavy Duty Steering System. This system features oversized chromoly drag links and tie rods that include one-ton ends, engineered for clearance and strength. This provides the extra confidence needed when out on the trail.

Testing the Upgrades

After installing the additional components, we placed our Jeep on the CTI trailer for a final test and received an impressive score. This shows a significant improvement over the stock rig we started with.

Ultimate Off-Road Test: The Rubicon Trail

Now that our Jeep is fully cloaked out, it’s time for the ultimate test: the Rubicon Trail. With the Game Changer suspension, we can tackle obstacles that would have been impossible with a stock rig. The Jeep is now equipped to handle any challenge, with its vulnerable underside protected by MetalCloak body armor.
