Long Arm vs Short Arm which is better

For the longest time, there was no doubt that Long Arms were the best upgrade to your rig.

But then, two things happened... Jeep created the JK Wrangler Unlimited 4-Door, and Metalcloak entered the suspension marketplace with our Patented Duroflex Joint and 6Pak Shocks... and the advantage of a Long Arm on a Jeep JK Wrangler was no longer clear.

The amount of flex we achieved with our well documented 3.5" Game-Changer Suspension was far superior to any production long arm system we tested against.

But what about larger lifts... surely Long Arms are better for a 4.5" or 5.5" kit, right?

Well, not exactly. When we released a 4.5" and 5.5" suspension system for the JK, it was not a long arm... but a standard bolt on suspension for the JK Wrangler featuring drop brackets in the front and rear that gave proper geometry for our signature performance on and off road.

Once again, the long was not needed. When we finally released a Long Arm for the JK Wrangler, it was a hybrid with Long Front Arms, but rear Mid Arms using our DB3 Drop Bracket.

Again, a Long Arm Rear was not needed to get all the flex.

So why, after all this time, do we finally have Full Long Arm kits for the front and rear of your Jeep JK Wrangler, JL Wrangler, and JT Gladiator?

Because they just work that much better. If our mid arm kits are amazing on and off road, can you imagine how much better our Long Arm kits are?

The only downside to a long arm is the installation... even though ALL our kits are Bolt On... yes, Bolt On... no welding on of brackets... it does require the cutting off and cleaning up of your stock brackets. It is, basically, a permanent change... and if you don't have the skill to do it yourself, it can cost a pretty penny to have someone else do it.

But... man... when it is done, you will have the best possible performance for your Jeep... whether you like desert bombing or Rubicon rock crawling... grocery getting or freeway cruising... Long Arm kits featuring the Duroflex Joints and True Dual Rate Coils are truly the best option for your rig.

See you on the trails, my friends.
